Ranger walking through forest

Essentials

Toilets

We have four toilets of which one is accessible, they are situated at the forest centre opposite the cafe.

No key is needed for the accessible toilet, the door width is 860mm.

Changing places

There is a Changing Places facility on site, next to the information point. It is available every day 8.30am - 4.30pm.

A Radar key is required, a spare can be collected from the Information Point.

Needing help

Our friendly recreation site staff are onsite for support at the information point everyday 9am - 4pm. If they are out in the forest they will leave a phone number to call.

Arriving at the forest

We have three car parks, the main one is the nearest to the visitor information point. The other two are the overflow and the horsebox parking.

The Arriva bus number 33 drops off at the main car park. Information including access and timetables is on the Arriva website.

Car park

We have six accessible parking bays in the main car park in front of the information point. The car park is not free.

We have card only pay on arrival machines. You can also pay with a mobile phone using the RingGo app.

The visitor information point

There is level, hard surfacing from the accessible parking bays to the information point, 20 metres away. Three picnic tables are outside the information point with space for wheelchair users and families to sit together.

Inside the cafe furniture is moveable and we don't play music.

We have a portable hearing loop.

Getting out in the forest

We don't have mobility equipment to hire.

Elephant Walk is recommended for wheelchair users, a pleasant bird and butterfly spotting route of under a mile.  Find it by following the purple markers from the information point.

Seating and shelter

There are plenty of benches around Elephant Walk.  The accessible benches are around the information point.

Apart from the cafe there is no sheltered seating.

Trails and activities

Lots of our walking and cycling trails are comfortable for a range of abilities.  See our things to do page for inspiration.
