Volunteering at Abbot's Wood
Help us at Abbot's Wood
Working as a part of a team, our practical conservation volunteers carry out tasks needed to manage the forest and important wildlife habitats within in.
Our volunteer sessions occur once a month, sometimes more often between 10.30 – 3.30pm. Tea, coffee and biscuits will be provided but please bring your own lunch.
If you are able to come for part of the session that is fine, all help is very much appreciated.
What will you be doing?
Typical tasks include clearing areas using hand tools like loppers and bowsaws to retain rare species, planting new trees for timber and collecting used tree tubes for recycling.
For some tasks you will need the ability to walk amongst thickly vegetated scrubby areas on uneven ground but an indication of the terrain will be given when the tasks are listed.
It is often very muddy in the winter, especially in Abbot’s Wood so please wear suitable wellies or boots. Gloves and tools will be provided.
