Forestry England are creating two new woodlands in Norfolk. The new woodlands at Old Buckenham and on land adjacent to Haugh Farm are close to the villages of Old Buckenham and New Buckenham. Together, over 160 hectares of new woodland will be created in this part of Norfolk. The new woodlands will have public access for people to explore and enjoy and to support health and wellbeing. The new woods will be Coronation Woods, commemorating the Coronation of His Majesty King Charles III.
Work in progress at Old Buckenham and Haugh Farm
The new woodlands will be valuable places for timber, wildlife and local communities. Both woodlands will be planted with a mixture of broadleaf and conifer tree species, chosen to match local soil types and expected future climate conditions.
The new woodlands will be peaceful places for local people to enjoy and will link in with the existing public rights of way network.
We are creating detailed plans for these new woodlands. They will both be an important part of the work that Forestry England is doing to expand the nation’s forests and will be created through the Nature for Climate Fund.
