Chopwell Wood is an unmanned site and there are no staff on site.
Arriving at the forest
We have one car park at Chopwell Wood, accessed via the main road in. It is free to park. There are two dedicated accessible parking bays.
There are five pedestrian entrances into Chopwell Wood and limited wheelchair access from Chopwell Village.
The nearest bus stop to the main entrance is on Hookergate Lane in High Spen. Buses are operated by Go Ahead Northeast.
Getting out in the forest
We don't have mobility equipment to hire. An all-terrain mobility scooter is available to use during bookable activities, contact enquiries.hamsterley@forestryengland.uk for more information.
Seating and shelter
There are plenty of benches around the site to take a rest. There are accessible benches around the Welcome trail.
There is no sheltered seating.
