The interior of a changing places toilet facility

Essentials

Toilets

We have eight toilets plus urinals and one accessible toilet in the Changing Places facility. They are situated in the building next to the cafe.

Changing places

The Changing Places facility is at the end of the toilet block. A RADAR key is needed and can be obtained from the staff in the shop next to the toilets.

Needing help

Our friendly Forestry England staff can be found in the office at the end of the outside seating area near the café, some have been disability trained. Cafe and shop staff can also help if needed.

Arriving at the forest

There is one main car park (nearest to the visitor centre) and one overflow car park. There is a sloping gravel path from the overflow car park.

The nearest bus stop is 0.6 miles / 1.0 km away on the B4226, Speech House road. We recommend avoiding the main road by joining the Family Cycle Trail that runs parallel to New Road. The Forest of Dean Cycle Centre is signposted from the Family Cycle Trail across a pedestrian footbridge.

Car park

We have five accessible parking bays situated In the main car park down the ramp. The car park is not free.

Our parking machines accept payment by card or contactless only. You can also pay with a mobile phone using the RingGo app.

Bike Shop

From the main entrance to the shop, there is one step. There is no lift and no ramp.

Cafe

Access to the cafe is on a permanent 2000mm wide ramp, the door is 970mm wide. From the main entrance to the dining area there is level access.

The cafe offers vegetarian, gluten free (celiacs), lactose free (dairy free) and vegan food. Music is sometimes played.

Seated picnic area

From the car park to the picnic area there is level access. The path is 2000mm wide, or more.

Some tables have space for wheelchair users.

We do not have a hearing loop.

Getting out in the forest

We work with a charity called Goals Beyond Grass who bring adapted bikes to the centre every other Tuesday. For more information visit the Goals Beyond Grass website

Seating and shelter

There are plenty of benches to take a rest around the site. We have some accessible benches, for wheelchair users and families to sit together outside the café in the main seating area.

Part of the outdoor seating area is covered with a large canopy.
