Horse riding at Hemsted Forest
Horse riding at Hemsted Forest
From May 2025 equestrians can enjoy riding off bridleway on gravel tracks only throughout Hemsted Forest without requiring any permit from Forestry England or TROT.
De-boxing
We are reviewing how to administer the de-boxing facilities as accessing them requires bringing vehicles beyond forest barriers on our land. Until a system is in place, please follow the guidance below from May 2025. We will notify users when the new system is available.
Current TROT members
If you currently have a TROT permit to access the de-boxing facility at Hemsted Forest, you may continue to do so beyond May 2025. You must continue to show your TROT permit in your vehicle when parked onsite. There is no requirement to wear the TROT hatband when riding through the forest.
Non-TROT members
If you do not currently have a TROT permit to access the de-boxing facility at Hemsted Forest, you must apply for permission to do so. A link to the online applications will appear here in April 2025.
For more information on our facilities, opening times and contact details, please see our visitor information.
