Essentials
Toilets
We have two accessible toilets. One is at the Information Point, the other is in the cafe.
The toilet at the Information Point has an 80cm wide door and is open 24 hours, the cafe toilet has a 70cm wide door and closes at 5pm. You do not need a key to access either.
Changing places
We have a Changing Places facility on site. It is opened with a radar key, which is available from our Information Point. Please visit https://www.changing-places.org/find and search 'Thetford Forest' for more info on our facility, or please call 0300 067 4401 to speak to our team at High Lodge.
Needing help
Our friendly Visitor Services team and duty Rangers are first aid trained and can be found at the Information Point.
Arriving at the forest
We have four main car parks and two overflow car parks. The nearest to the Information Point are Badger and Adder. All our car parks are named and signposted as you drive through the site.
The closest bus stop is Spruce Drive, Green Rd, Brandon, an approximate 20 minute walk into High Lodge, Thetford Forest. Please note there is no designated footpath to the site.
Car park
We have 12 accessible parking bays at High Lodge, six each in Badger and Adder car parks. They are situated close to the Information Point, paved and marked out with chevrons.
We have ANPR parking machines, and parking is charged £3 per hour, up to a maximum of £15. You pay for your parking when you are ready to leave.
The Information Point and cafe
Access to the Information Point is on a level asphalt path from Badger and Adder car parks. Flat earthen paths from the Fox, Nightjar, and overflow car parks.
Staff in the cafe can help with access if needed. Music is sometimes played.
Getting out in the forest
You can hire mobility equipment to use at High Lodge. See our hire an all-terrain mobility scooter page for more information. Our Heritage Trail is a recommended trail, follow the pink signs from the Information Point. We also have a small number of wheelchairs, suitable for use on the paved paths and main green, available for hire.
Seating and shelter
Picnic benches are available at the cafe, and on the Heritage Trail. Please note the picnic benches next to our BBQs are for use by BBQ bookers only. There are no sheltered seating areas apart from the cafe.
