Running trails at High Lodge

Explore the running trails at High Lodge

With miles of off-road routes for you to enjoy, escape the stuffy gym, embrace the fresh air and get fit where you can be inspired by stunning natural surroundings.

Supported by Sport England and using National Lottery funding, the network of marked trails make running through the forest more accessible, so you can feel confident to just hit the trails and enjoy all the benefits of being active outdoors.

  • 1.5km Pine Trail - Ease in with a short, flat hard packed trail which takes you between the pine trees. This wide trail is great for a social run with friends and has the peace the wider forest offers, without being too far from the visitor centre.
  • 1km, 3km 4.2km Heritage Trail - A smooth flat surfaced trail with 3 distance options available. Almost like road running with the cars replaced by trees and bird song. There are some very slight incline and declines across this trail particularly on the 4.2km loop.
  • 5km, 10km, 12km Fir Trail - This trail is for those more experienced trail runners who like to wind through the forest, avoiding roots and stumps along the way. Three distance options which follow yellow waymarkers in the depths of Thetford Forest. The longest route passes Thetford Warren Lodge

You will share our trails with other users, so please be mindful, and look out for signed crossings and potential diversions.
