Walking trails at High Lodge, Thetford Forest

There are four trails to choose from ranging from 1km to 12km, with different types of surfaces and various shortcuts.

  • Heritage Trail - This trail, suitable for most abilities, is a great multi-user experience. With three loops measuring 1km, 3km, and 4.2km, this trail is ideal for people wanting an easier way to get outdoors, while still enjoying some beautiful trees, and boards with information about the history of Thetford.
  • Pine Trail - Take a short 1.5km walk, ideal for getting some fresh air and enjoying the sights and sounds of High Lodge.  This trail has a mostly firm surface which is more suitable for wheelchairs and buggies.
  •  Nature Trail - The Nature trail is a brisk 1.5km walk, which allows you to get closer to the outdoors. Taking you away from the main hub, this trail does not have a firm surface, and crosses over natural forest floor.
  • Fir Trail - If you are looking for a trail that takes you further into the forest, then the Fir Trail is for you. With options for 5km, 10km, or 12km loops, the Fir Trail will take you out into the woods, with great opportunities to spot local wildlife.
