Essentials

Toilets

We have 40 toilets at Moors Valley, with one in the changing places facility. There are more accessible toilets at Kingsmere Railway Station and inside the Golf Centre.

Changing Places

Moors Valley has one Changing Places standard toilet situated at the Visitor Centre, with a tracking hoist system (Safe Working Load is 200kg / 440lbs maximum) and a height-adjustable changing bed inside a private cubicle. A RADAR key is required to use this facility; please ask our rangers at the Information Point for a loan key if you do not have your own.

Needing help

Our friendly staff are first-aid trained and can be found at the Information Point in the Visitor Centre between 9am and 5pm (extended hours during the summer). There is a low, accessible section of the main desk area for visitors who may require use of a low, level surface. Chairs can also be provided for comfort when using the desk.

Arriving at the forest

There is one barrier-operated car park at Moors Valley. There are no further barriers between the car park and the visitor centre.

Car park

We have 13 accessible parking bays at Moors Valley, which are sign-posted on the car park signs. The car park is not free. Payment machines are in use and it is not currently possible to pay via mobile app.

If your vehicle is exempt from road tax due to disability reasons, that vehicle may park for free. Bring your registration number and proof to the visitor centre to have it validated.

The visitor centre

The visitor centre is approximately 100m from the car park on a tarmac footpath. There are some short sections where the gradient is 10% or higher. Access to the building is through wide, automatic doors.

An induction hearing loop is available and we can provide large print leaflets on request. A braille version of the map leaflet is available on request. Please ask a ranger at the Information Point for more information.

Inside the visitor centre you'll find seating (some low-level) and a cafe. Wheelchair accessible picnic tables are provided. Music is played in the visitor centre, away from the main desk area.

Getting out in the forest

If you require mobility equipment you can hire an all-terrain mobility scooter via the Countryside Mobility Scheme, which needs booking in advance.

Seating and shelter

There are plenty of benches to take a rest around the site. Accessible benches are available in the Gruffalo picnic area, the cafe and cafe patio.

Shelter is only available in the visitor centre and cafe.

Trails and activities

Lots of our walking and cycling trails are comfortable for a range of abilities. See our Things to do page for inspiration.
