What can I do?
Practical volunteer
We have three active volunteering groups covering our Nottinghamshire community woodlands. They meet as follows:
- Positive Action, Wednesday 12.30-4pm - meeting weekly in the Ollerton area.
- Woodland Workout, Thursday 10-2pm - meeting weekly at one of the following, Boundary Wood, Shirebrook Wood, Pleasley Park, Oxclose Wood or Silverhill Wood
- Friends of Thynghowe ,Friday 10-2pm meeting monthly at Birklands near Edwinstowe
- Woodland Workout, Sunday 10-2pm - meeting monthly at one of the following: Boundary Wood, Shirebrook Wood, Pleasley Park, Oxclose Wood or Silverhill Wood.
Tasks undertaken are a mixture of conservation project work and site management including clearing vegetation, fencing, coppicing and much more.
No experience is needed. All tools, training and coffee, tea and biscuits will be provided. Suitable clothing and footwear for the weather and outdoor tasks is recommended. As Thursday and Sunday sessions run over lunch, we would advise bringing along some lunch with you.

Are you part of a group and you'd like to have a go at some practical volunteering in the woods? If so we'd love to hear from you. There are always plenty of tasks to carry out or projects to get involved with.
Shadow Rangers volunteer scheme
We're looking for individuals interested in a career in forestry to apply for our Shadow Ranger volunteer scheme. Taking place in the nation’s forests across England, Shadow Rangers will be given training, experience and development opportunities by work shadowing Forestry England staff. The scheme runs twice a year for six months, one to three days a week.
