Activities

Introduction, kingdoms quick sort – naming the different kingdoms and sorting a variety of organisms 

Plant features discovery – exploring the different groups of plants in the arboretum (algae, moss, ferns, grasses, wild flowers, trees) and observing their features

Tree identification challenge – using a simple key, (using conifer and broadleaf, leaf shape and other features) identify a selection of trees species

Woodland animals and invertebrate hunt – students search for invertebrates before creating their own classification key to subdivide this broad group
