Horse riding at Woodend

Woodend provides some fantastic places to ride your horse. From May 2025 equestrians can enjoy riding off bridleway on permissive routes throughout West Walk, Hundred Acres and Woodend without requiring any permit from Forestry England or TROT. Shared use of the forests requires patience and respect for fellow visitors.  Please adhere to any signed no-go areas, including picnic and play areas.

Commercial activity or carriage drivers requiring barrier access will still need to apply for a permission via southern.permissions@forestryengland.uk  

Horse box parking will continue to be available at Woodend Car Park. Please visit www.forestryengland.uk/woodend for current parking tariffs.
